The Gateways family got together as Rich Morra was recently
honored with the Excellence in Service Award. Rich has been employed
with GTC since 1992, and has been the Performance Arts Director since
2004. Through his work as the Black Box Theater director, Rich provides
intensive method acting training through daily acting classes and live
theatrical performances with integrated casts.
The quality of these productions has been validated by audiences and
critics, with numerous positive reviews and award nominations. The
theater has been the recipient of the RISCA Project Grant in 2008 for
Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992, and 2009 for A Christmas Carol.
Much of the benefit of the productions lay in their
processes-- the natural integration necessary to create a cohesive play
lead to invaluable experiences and relationships. In collaboration
with Greg Morro, Rich also facilitates “Life in Action”, a weekly group
that uses their improv skills to demonstrate positive actions when
confronted with difficult people and situations. Rich is
truly passionate in sharing his gifts in acting and comedy with the
people he is equally talented in working with. His sense of humor
fosters the relaxed climate necessary for the success the members of
the Black Box have enjoyed in its relatively young life.
M. was also recognized as GTC's Staff Person of the Year. It was great
to see his family and some consumers with whom he works in attendance
to show their support.
